Diversity is our strength; solidarity is our power.

Who is DaMigra?

DaMigra e. V. is a nationwide umbrella association of migrant women’s self-organizations (MSO) regardless of their origin. Founded in 2014 DaMigra speaks for more than 70 member organizations today. DaMigra represents nationwide the interests of migrant women organizations, and migrant and refuge women vis-à-vis the state, politics and society. DaMigra is politically, ideologically and denominationally independent.

With our projects #selbstbestimmt! (#selfdetermined) and MUT-Macherinnen* (encouragers), we facilitate safe spaces and networks where women can discuss self-determined themes and execute their own ideas and empower them to voice these . Our approach presents an antiracist-feminist framework.

What are we doing?

DaMigra focuses on:

Our objectives:

To enable migrant and refugee women to lead a self-determined life in their new environment.

To mobilize their own strengths and resources for influencing the structures.

To facilitate to represent and assert their own interests and concerns externally.

To improve qualification and professionalization of volunteer work / project management.

To raise awareness and provide education about women and human rights.

Lobbying and Networking

Political bodies, committees and parliaments spend a lot of time talking about women* who have migrated or fled to Germany. Decisions are made without their participation. DaMigra e.V. advocates for women’s* right to self-determination and acts as a mouthpiece for its member organisations in numerous committees on the state, federal and European level.

Raising Public Awareness

DaMigra deliberately distances itself from the one-sided portrait of migrant and refugee women* as victims in the media. Through targeted public relations work, DaMigra raises awareness about the multiple forms of discrimination experienced by migrant and refugee women* and makes their experiences, social engagement, and strengths visible.

Our demands:

A comprehensive participation needs …

legal certainty!

housing security! (accommodation of refugee women* and
their children in flats and flat-sharing communities)

non-violence! (consistent implementation of the Istanbul Convention)

recognition of resources!

participation in labor market! (effective measurements to
stop downward mobility of migrant women)

social security! (participation in social life – in one’s own community and in the mainstream society)

We break down barriers, and fight against systematic discrimination and marginalization.

We want gender equality now!

* As the umbrella association by and for migrant women* organisations in Germany, we define ourselves as intersectional, and we act accordingly. Therefore, we use gender-sensitive and inclusive language and spelling marked with an asterisk. It is a symbol that emphasizes the existing gender diversity and rejects a binary gender system. Our offers are for women*. Hereby, we mean everybody who self-identifies as a woman* or who has experiences in society as a woman*.
