There are many ways to do voluntary work in this country. Aside from involvement within various institutions and associations, people within their neighborhood, families and circles of friends help out.

Volunteering is an important part of our society: it strengthens values such as cohesion, interpersonal relationships and support, but social commitment is also a political issue: Many areas of public and social life would not exist without the work of volunteers exist. At DaMigra, too, the work of our volunteers makes up a large part. In addition to the appreciation for the work that volunteers do within our society, we see opportunities for self-development in their commitment

That's what our volunteers say

Nataliia Nykolaienkova, (Ukraine): I came to Leipzig in March 2022, when the war started. I have been working here as a volunteer since September 2022 until today. What I like about my volunteer work is that I help women overcome the fear of a foreign language by showing by example how I walked this difficult path. I like that I met women from different countries and made friends. I like that after our meetings in the language café or after our small but interesting excursions, every woman comes home a little happier and smiling because she knows that she is not alone in any situation and that she can always find support at DaMigra!

Nour: I met DaMigra two years ago through my girlfriend and I am very happy to be part of this wonderful team. I love the spirit of collaboration between us. I feel like I'm with my family. When I get to know women of different nationalities, we exchange our different cultures
and experiences. I love DaMigra because we always work together like a team!

Afaf Ibrahim: By chance I was looking for a place that would pave my way in Germany and help me understand my rights. And here I learned a lot for myself and met many interesting women. I am happy that I can help and support women. This activity is very meaningful and enriching for me. They make me feel stronger and more confident.

Ravieyeh Fani (Iran): For me, both women and children are very important. DaMigra works for migrant women so that they can become visible in society and find a job. DaMigra is like my second home. I feel very comfortable and safe at DaMigra. Through my voluntary work as a childcare worker, I would like to stay at DaMigra and help.
