Annual financial statements: pave the way for refugee women * to find their way into work
The MUT project is bearing fruit - at the closing event, the MUT project presented its results and successes from 2018 and spoke to politicians about the situation of refugee women in Germany.
Within the last three years, the DaMigra eV project “Migrants as encouragers and bridge builders” has reached more than 40.000 women * with migration and refugee experience. From computer, swimming and cycling courses to roundtables and feminist film evenings to preparation for job interviews: in 2018, over 1.200 events for refugee women * took place. The main topics include human and women's rights, health, participation, education and discrimination.
This year the focus of the year was on the topic of labor market integration. Around 30 percent of the events were dedicated to this focus and supported refugee women * in shaping their own way into the labor market.
“In the labor market, in particular, women * with a history of migration and refugee empowerment are only possible to a limited extent. A multitude of barriers stand in their way to develop their potential and to be able to contribute their skills. The MUT project provides valuable assistance here, " explained Kook-Nam Cho-Ruwwe, CEO of DaMigra eV
At the closing event, the ten regional locations of the MUT project presented the highlights of their work in 2018 in an exhibition. Representatives of various parties and Dr. Delal Atmaca, managing director of DaMigra eV, together with bridge builders * from the MUT project on the current situation of refugee women *.
“In order for refugee or migrant women * in Germany to lead a self-determined life, they must be enabled to participate economically, politically, socially and culturally. As the umbrella organization of migrant women’s organizations, we are politically committed to this goal. With the MUT project we promote the participation of women * directly in practice, " said Dr. Delal Atmaca on the objective of the project.
The Federal Government Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration, Minister of State Annette Widmann-Mauz, said at the event:
“Integration cannot succeed without women. Their participation in all areas of life is a prerequisite for a society to be able to fully exploit its democratic and economic potential. The MUT project supports women who have fled war and persecution when they arrive in Germany with committed women who build bridges and encourage courage - women who know from their own experience how challenging it can be to arrive in an unfamiliar environment. I thank the committed people for their valuable work. "
