Alternative report on the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence

The Istanbul Convention Alliance published its alternative report on the implementation of the Istanbul Convention in Germany in February 2021. Even three years after the Convention came into force, Germany still lacks an inter-departmental overall strategy, effective institutions and the necessary resources to implement the right of all women and girls to a life free of violence. In particular for groups such as women with a refugee or migration history, with disabilities, diverse gender identities or in homelessness, the access to prevention, protection, advice and law enshrined in the Convention is still inadequate. The BIK report provides a differentiated analysis of the status quo and shows urgently needed steps to implement the legally binding convention.
