DaMigra Conference 2019 on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women *: "#MyDigitalWomenRights and the Istanbul Convention"
With the Istanbul Convention (IC), a milestone has been reached in preventing, combating and eradicating violence against women * and girls * in Europe.
The IK explicitly defines violence against women * and girls * as a violation of human rights. This also applies to violence in the digital space: cyber violence.
Digital means of communication open up new areas of action for us, which are at the same time open to new forms of violence against women * and girls *. Cyber violence affects all women *.
Violence in the digital space and violence in “real life” are an expression of the same problem: Violence against women * and girls * is a means of keeping women * and girls * offline and online in a subordinate and weak position.
With two lectures and a panel discussion, we will discuss cyber violence against women * and girls * and options for action in accordance with the Istanbul Convention with actors from the European Parliament, the Federal Government and advisers on November 25.11.2019, XNUMX in Berlin.
- Which articles of the Istanbul Convention relate to cyber violence against women *?
- What forms of gender-based cyber violence are practiced in the 21st century? And how?
- How can we make sexist and racist cyber violence against women * and girls *, especially in connection with migrant and refugee women *, visible?
With the #MyDigitalWomenRights, DaMigra is calling for an anti-racist and anti-sexist Internet for EVERYONE! The conference focuses on the perspectives, concerns and needs of women * with refugee and migration backgrounds.
Participation is free. The event rooms are barrier-free.
The conference language is German.
Due to limited capacities, we ask for a timely and binding registration by November 18, 2019 at: https://eveeno.com/damigra-mydigitalwomenrights
