DaMigra's voice on Radio Corax: on the impact of the planned GEAS reform on women seeking protection and people facing multiple discrimination & the importance of the Istanbul Convention

On June 8, the EU Home Affairs Council made a controversial decision on the Common European Asylum System (CEAS). It was decided to further tighten the asylum system, which includes border procedures similar to detention at the EU's external borders and deportations to so-called "safe" third countries. At the same time, on June 1, the European Union joined the Istanbul Convention, which obliges the signatories to take comprehensive measures to prevent and combat violence against women and domestic violence. The Convention aims to ensure protection for all women in the EU, including women seeking asylum and those without a right of residence. Radio Corax spoke to Dr. Delal Atmaca on the impact of the planned GEAS reform on women seeking protection and people facing multiple discrimination and on the importance of the Istanbul Convention.
