Panel discussion: Not just a police problem - institutional racism in Thuringia

Dear future members,

As part of the anti-racism project women rais.ed, we want to join forces with the Institute for Democracy and Civil Society (IDZ), the Institute for Democratic Culture at Magdeburg Stendal University of Applied Sciences and the Institute for Regional History for a panel discussion at the German National Theater and Staatskapelle Weimar (DNT). 10. April um 20 pm

How do authorities create or sustain racial inequality? Many people experience barriers to access to social benefits, for example, depending on their (attributed) origin, migration history or language. This is anchored in laws, language barriers, official capacity, social prejudices and so on.

We consider using an example Thuringia, where and how institutional racism works, what it means for those affected and how people are committed to combating it. We have invited the following guests:

  • Renata Conkova, RomnoKher Thuringia e. v.
  • Doreen Denstädt, Thuringian Minister for Migration, Justice and Consumer Protection
  • Rudaba Badakhshi, umbrella organization of the migrant organizations DaMigra e. v.

The evening will be moderated by Leon Rosa Reichle from IDZ Jena. Participation is free and offers no space for racist, anti-Semitic, sexist or other discriminatory statements. In such a case, exclusion occurs! TW: People talk about racist and discriminatory experiences.

When: April 10.04.2024, 20, 00:21 p.m. to (probably) 45:XNUMX p.m

Where: German National Theater Weimar

Theaterplatz 2, 99423 Weimar

Women raises.ed is an anti-racism project launched by DaMigra, which is aimed at women and girls who experience racism, sexism and multiple discrimination. We support the recognition of racism & sexism, encourage self-empowerment and empower for a collective fight against discrimination!
