Invitation to the reading: "Sumaya" and the topic of multiple discrimination

Dear interested parties,

We would like to warmly invite you to an extraordinary reading that not only brings to light the hidden story of a remarkable woman, but also brings an important topic into focus: multiple discrimination.

The reading will focus on Sumaya, a woman about whom little is known but who has extraordinary significance for Muslims. The author Martin Attar wrote a novel biography about Sumaya in the first email.

Sumaya not only embodies the courage and faith, but also the experience of multiple discrimination that many Muslim women with refugee and migrant backgrounds still have to face today. Her life began in slavery, and she fought against the prejudices of her time not only because of her gender and skin color, but also because of her social status.

This reading offers an opportunity to discuss the structures of multiple discrimination together. These structures are not only present in society as a whole, but also within (post-)migrant communities.

As always, participation in the event is free. For those who require language mediation, this is available, especially in Arabic. Please indicate your requirements when registering via email 17.

Attention: The first 10 participants will receive a copy of the book about Sumaya free of charge!
