Empowerment Weekend

Dear future members,

we hereby invite you to Empowerment weekend in Halle a. Together with Senja Brütting and Ely Almeida we would like to come together for two days to create an empowering space that we design self-determined, based on our needs and creatively. The aim is to decelerate but also to exchange ideas about strategies for dealing with racism.

What attributions are you confronted with? How do you deal with it? What support do you have or need? What/who helps you and gives you strength? What are challenges, resistances and stresses due to your positioning and racist/multiple discriminatory experiences? How can we draw on our resources and grow stronger together?

This 2-day offer offers a more protected atmosphere to exchange ideas, to find common points of contact and to build a community.

The event is free and takes place in German. Meals, accommodation and travel expenses are included inklusive. If childcare is required, please indicate when registering. This event is aimed at FLINTA* people affected by racism.

We ask that you register via email s.sisouphantavong@damigra.de or via WhatsApp/Telegram/Call +49 176 603 823 46. The exact location will be announced after registration.

Why Empowerment?

We are affected by racism and other forms of discrimination on various levels (individual, structural and institutional). This has an impact on our life, our development, our physical and mental health. empowerment processes are thus very importantto deal with it. An essential factor in the empowerment process is the liberation from foreign determinations, fear, helplessness, anger, powerlessness and exhaustion. Then Empowerment provides opportunity, healing past experiences that were painful, coming out of victimhood, and the position of the acting person to take.

Women raises.ed is an anti-racism project launched by DaMigra, which is aimed at women and girls who experience racism, sexism and multiple discrimination. We support the recognition of racism & sexism, encourage self-empowerment and empower for a collective fight against discrimination!

Senja Brütting: Senja Katharina Brütting (pronoun: senja/keins), social worker and freelance education consultant on the subject of anti-racist empowerment through movement, healing and embodiment. As a dancer and movement performer, I am part of various projects and performance collectives that deal artistically with resistance practices, visibility and decolonization.

Ely Almeida: Black, cis woman (pronoun: she/her), trainer in the context of criticism of discrimination and empowerment. As a process facilitator, I support and advise organizations in anti-discrimination transformation processes.
